I've not done one on a Ducati, but the wet clutch on the Mille didn't need the oil drained before the change - just rest the bike on the side stand and all the oil sits below clutch level on the left hand side of the sump/engine.

Could/should be the same for the monster...maybe? Could save a bit of time?
