I've not done one on a Ducati, but the wet clutch on the Mille didn't need the oil drained before the change - just rest the bike on the side stand and all the oil sits below clutch level on the left hand side of the sump/engine.
Could/should be the same for the monster...maybe? Could save a bit of time?

Might work, I've gotta remove the engine side casing completely though as its one complete unit. The tip on side method may still work, but I'll have to pretty much lay her down I reckon.
