| Did my 748s chain the weekend for the first time too.
I also followed the Haynes manual, straight forward, right first time !
slack off the two bolts, 'C' spanner, anti clockwise (you see the chain tighten) torque up the two nuts and hey presto !
Done mine on the side stand.
