Yes, all the manuals suggest fitting a friction first but I ran this clutch for 4K miles with a steel first as recommended by Nelly and it worked fine.

Another point - the standard DP pack comes with mainly 2mm steels and only 2 X 1.5mm steels and 2 X dish plates.
