Raising handlebars

I'm having problems riding my 888, in that after not many km's (I'm in NZ) at legal speeds I get very sore back and wrists due to the riding position.

Now the 888 is the bike of my dreams in every other respect and I really don't want to sell it. However if I want to ride with my partner who rides her Firestorm at legal speeds only then I need to sort something out. At 140km/h or greater it's no problem, but at 100 it's hell. Besides riding with my partner the roads around where I live aren't really suitable for decent speeds anyway.

Is there any way I can raise the handle bars, or get some form of replacements, i.e aftermarket or higher bars off a touring bike with same diameter forks but more lift etc.

Also, It looks like anything higher may foul the front fairing?
I'm relly keen to get this sorted as I haven't ridden the bike in the lat 3 months, mainly due to the amount of pain I'm ending up in after a minimum or 200km like this per ride.
