| If you want to keep the bike faithfull to its original state, you might want to consider getting the fasteners re zinc'd. Had all mine done and it made one hell of a difference, and was relativley cheap..lots of places that could help with this..
Zinc coating is still fresh after 2 years (regular sprays of GT85 and im a fair weather wussy mind you!!)
