Hi all,
I'm having the weirdest experiences with cutting out at the moment, and they're too frequent for me to dismiss as 'occasional glitches'.
I've only owned my 2002 750ie for just over a month now, and I've just barely put 200 miles on it so far :-(
I'm pretty sure there's no pattern - it happens cold, warm, after half a mile, after 10 miles, when I'm cornering, when I'm riding on a straight bit of road with the throttle steady.... I'm clueless as to what's going on.
Sometimes it just behaves like a backfire and then all is fine again. Other times, twice today in fact, it's a complete stop at the side of the road going through a routine of key-off, key-on and listen for the fuel pump (sometimes got to do this more than once before I hear the pump whine!), give the starter a twitch and hope for a growl... This morning it cut out at the end of a 20 minute commute, so the bike was definitely nice and warm. This evening it happened half a mile away from my office, within a short while of me setting off.
I'm a few miles outside Hull, so if the answer to my woes is a trip to a dealer/service centre could you also let me know where the closest one is to me?
Glumly,
