| You can easily lose the self retrating mechanism, either with a sidestand bolt off a later model, or the cheaper way, take out the sidestand bolt & cut off the extended head which the spring plates rest against when the stand is down... this converts your stand into a sensible non-retracting version.
As for stand length... dunno
