Another vote for the scotoiler stuff. However it's practice here to hose off the bikes after a run in winter when they've cooled no matter how dark it is outside, dry and then recoat. Seems to work well for me.
Alternative is do what Ade does and coat liberally in oil and don't wash it for 2 years
