hi, I have a full DP 54mm Ti 102dB (quiet !) system fitted on my 998R. This was recommended as the best compromise for road and the odd track day use. The price quoted was £1942 inc VAT complete with a new ECU. This was reduced a bit as I part ex'd my unused 50mm supplied pipes. It was a pretty tight fit between the cylinder head and the header pipes and also routing around the sump extension drain plug and out by the swing arm. It did all get fitted ok though. The rh-footpeg needed some spacers installed to move it away from the actual pipes. At the same time I did enquire amount the 57mm system, quoted at £2600 plus £900 for a Corse ECU, if you could actually get hold of one. The other option was to have the existing ECU sent to Ducati to have it reprogrammed for the larger 57mm pipes. You have to be a bit careful as the full 998r 54mm systems is different to a 996R and 998s 54mm system. Probably not by much but enough to get a different part number in the DP catalogue. There was some info on the Ducati web site for 998r used in Endurance racing and the choices were 54mm for short tracks and 57mm for the higher speed circuits. I know that Vince Whittle who racers in the MRO with a unmodified 998s engine uses 57mm Ti system. Mind you the rest of the bike is pretty special and Vince is riding really well to make up for the minimum engine work. lapman |
