| Garry Smith spent this year racing his 996SPS engined race bike with a full 50mm system, but he will be changing to a 54mm system for next year (when he comes and gives me the money for it) I got the impression from him that he feels the 50mm setup may be restricting the top end performance.
Hard for me to tell as my 996Bp is running a full 54mm system which I can't fault, where asmy 998 Hybrid seems happy enough with its full 50mm system..
Note a 748R runs a 50mm system as standard and a 748RS runs a 54mm system as standard which makes me thing that 45mm headers and manifolds may be a bit restrictive on a 996. |
