| Mine is a rechargeable one that doesn't run off of the battery - if that makes sense. Its been run flat since Cadwell too.
Just charge it up a couple of days before the first round - it takes 12 hours or so for a full charge from flat.
Once its charged up and taken out it will work, putting it back in the charger-holder (without power) means that it's in sleep mode and so won't drain any battery power (or very little).
