An upside down (as in underslung caliper) gives squat. That is desirable in braking because it helps to counteract the dive cause by the front brakes...in effect reducing the fore-aft pitching effect. Using a topside rear caliper cause the rear of the bike to rise during use of the rear brake. Whether you'd notice any worthwhile improvement is debatable. The rear brake on my 748 is totally ineffective....scrutineering use only! [Edited on 26-1-2006 by twpd] |
