The best course is prevention mate. Even if only hosing them down with clean water and a good wash every week................Belgom Alu used to be very popular and worked pretty well. Haven't seen any for a while though. Maybe M&P or Busters have it??
Also, Scotoiler do a spray that protects the bike from crud and salt. Basically the crap sticks to it rather than the bike. When you wash it off the dirt goes with it. You reapply that after washing.

There it is again................that word............... "washing" There's a trend developing here
