The problem that we have been experiencing (more frequently over the last 6 months) is in the definition of how many simultaneous connections the website can handle.
Up until 14-Jan this setting was 100 simultaneous connections - I then increased it to 250 connections, which still doesn't appear to be enough!
I've now increased it to 350 - let's see how that goes!
It's a bit like setting up carbs - lots of options to change but you need to find just the right one and turn it just the right amount. Too little and it has no effect, too much and it all goes haywire
If there's anyone who has experience of tuning mySQL4 with Apache on Redhat Linux 9, please get in touch with the webteam. Any assistance will be greatfully received.
