I just right-clicked on your Avatar red coross box and this is what I get as the properties.
"http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xmb/avatars/Nigel%20C.gif"
The file looks remarkably like a GIF to me rather than a Jpeg (no guesses to how I deduced that
)
