| Hmmmm, I believe the unit is just a 'pod' that sits in the surround. Dunno about changing the needle - why not try to to remove the outer surround and the glass cover and simply repaint the needle with some Fluro / bright paint of some sort?
Speedo's come up pretty regular on FleaBay - but stripping two units down to swap needles over seems extreme to me.
