| Purely from a safety point of view I think it could cause problems.
The scheme I have seen has the multi passenger lane on the right of the outside overtaking lane. This means that you are going to have slow moving traffic moving from the additional lane into the path of fast moving traffic, when they want to pull across to junctions, or if they encounter slow moving traffic in the additional lane, they will effectively undertake it in the outside overtaking lane. |
