Random domain names are set up by the spammers. Then they blast out emails to all permutations of email addresses at popular domain names with bits of random text.
If anyone is tempted to reply (eg with "sorry, you must have me confused with someone that gives a flying fig"), that address gets added to a list. That list of valid email addresses is then sold onto groups that want to sell things to you. |
