I have a theory that governments shouldn't serve for more than 2 terms as per the US system - I voted Labour back in 1997 simply because I'd had enough of 4 terms of the Tories. 3 terms of Labour and we're back to the same situation - politicians who are too comfy with their feet under the table, politicians who've run out of ideas for things to do, so invent nonsense policies just for the sake of it. 3 terms is too long for anyone. Political Correctness is a funny thing - everyone in public life is so scared of saying anything controversial, that there are no opposing ends of the political scale anymore - far left and far right as epitomised by Thatcher and Foot in the 80's don't exist anymore because they're too controversial, both sides are seeking the safety of the middle ground and as a result, there's nothing to choose between them. Which is why I didn't vote last time - give me an option that says 'None of the above' and I'll vote Just my opinion Martin [Edited on 24-3-2006 by Urban996] |
