Just tried alloy plates on my new slipper and I was very surprised how quiet they are.... so I can hear the pipes better!!
Appart than that I don't really have any strong opinion pro or cons.
Although actually, the alloy plates being that much lighter will create less wear on the basket which has to be a plus... but are about twice the price as standard ones...
