Definitely below the belt - BUT, Zidane is (was) a professional sportsman and this is part of the game. Steve Waugh referred to it as 'mental disintegration'.
He was their chief penalty taker, and wasn't able to participate in the penalty shoot-out to decide the game.
It's easy for me to say that, I know I've had the odd transgression on the playing field
