Oil pressure light

Hi all,

On my 95 916 i have the folllowing problem.

I noticed that it's dripping oil from the right side around the oil pressure switch. I took the wrench to remove it, but it was loose. I removed and i noticed the thread of the casing is completely knackered.

I cleaned the area and fitted a 748 '00 used switch (has a longer thread) which fitted ok. Addapted the wiring, put the contact on, light on, started the engine oil light off so everything seemed ok.Went for a ride and after 10 minutes the oil light came on. Stopped the engine, waited for it to cool down, but all the time the oil light stays lit.

I know for sure that the pressure is fine cause it worked ok with the 916 switch so probably the 748 switch is the problem.

And now the question:

Is it because the sensor is cracked?

Or is it because the switches are different (916 has written on it p=0.75-1.05 bar; 748 p=0.15-0.45) and the 748 one is not good for the 916 engine?

Thanks
