This place is doing Poser 5 download for $20. I strongly recommend getting him started with that and see how he goes before spending a lot of money. Poser is a pretty complicated (if not tedious) piece of software. If he gets good results from it, then spend the money! If he gets bored of it quickly then you've only spent a few quid.
