| I can understand your reasoning Moto but the top yoke on a 749/999 is a rather tasty bit of kit.
The 999 yoke does indeed fit a 998 but the damper mounts are no good, it was just by chance that I found the german one and it will accomodate the Ohlins damer etc without any mods to the bike at all.
I have also seen a couple of 998 race bikes that use a modified 999 yoke with no damper mounts, ie machined off
