If there are no children in the marriage you can do it all yourself without a solicitor, but should there be any discrepencies in equity etc being split evenly then you would be well advised to get a solicitor, it comes down to "Needs of the Parties".

You can instigate the divorce proceedings by going to your local court and getting the papers, If memory serves it will cost about £150.

Give us a shout if you want any advice, went through this a few yeras ago and I learnt a lot about the divorce proceedure.

Good luck mate but one word of advice, the courts don`t like you divying up the equity and assets before the divorce and keep the seperation & divorce as friendly as possible, it makes life a lot easier. Do`h thats two things.
