I've had an Arai Condor for a couple of years and find it very comfy but was getting hacked off with the wind noise. I've bought a Schuberth S1 and can honestly say it's the dogs doo-dahs. The quality is superb. The fit is excellent, but the best bit is that it is so quiet. The designs are not very exciting as they are mostly plain colours. I got the "Nordic Dragon" design which is about as exciting as they get - very understated. They've also got a Bluetooth gismo coming out for it soon which can be retro fitted to the lid if that's your thing. All your gadgets - phone, sat nav, MP3 - connect into one small box which then talks to the helmet via bluetooth, so no wires. If the phone rings then music or sat nav cuts out. You can just put all your gadgets and the box in a tank bag or bum bag to keep it portable. With regard to wind noise, I read somewhere that the real issue is not about how much noise the helmet makes as they are all quite aerodynamic, but it's about how your helmet handles the noise generated by the bike. You can have a helmet which generates very little wind noise but still lets the wind noise from the bike in. |
