Valentino Rossi recorded the fastest ever lap of the Ricardo Tormo circuit during free practice for the MotoGP in Valencia on Saturday.
The Italian lapped the 4km circuit in one minute 31.817, beating the mark Sete Gibernau's set in 2005.
Rossi was 0.037 seconds faster than world championship title rival Nicky Hayden on his Honda, while Ducati rider Loris Capirossi was third.
Official qualifying takes place later on Saturday afternoon.
Seven-time champion Rossi had the best time of the first practice session, while Capirossi dominated later on Friday. |
