Nothing wrong with a 748 on the way up, the are a very good bike with the styling and handling of their bigger relatives. There are many a happy 748 owner around, but once they progress further up the biking ladder I can't see many returning to the 748 especially with 916s available for less than £3k.

But going to something like a R1 is a waste of time for most as the majority can't ride them to the bikes full potential, not even the international licence holders at the TT.

Currently Ozz is on a bike that would have been in the Formula 3 class, the 748 like the Jap 600s would be F2 and the 998/999 and Jap 1000s woyuld be F1, best thing is to progress through the ranks. rather than trying to leap to the top of the pile.

My bikes while growing up went, 125, 250, 350, 400, 750, 1100
