Ozz, go for it, you wont get so wet on a 748.
There a great bike I have been riding them for seven years with no big problems. You might need a new clutch around 15,000 miles and theres always the rocker problem, only had one replaced tho. Great engine, ride the torque or rev the nuts off it.
