Have a look at all the cables coming from the dvd to the speakers, as you have said it's just been moved with new carpets etc it could be a speaker cable nicked by gripper rod (had this before) giving a short on the output stage of the amplifier.
As already said fuse should be 3 or 5 amp.

Don't wrap the fuse in tin foil as I've seen before, although you can follow the smoke to fault if you do this
