Dave, as you've found out these o-rings are easliy damaged. When you put it back together with the new o-rings a smear of vaseline helps them fit in easliy without tearing (no smutty remarks please).
Also, the carbs are the same as those fitted to the TDM/TRX850 Yamahas. Your local Yamaha dealer may have had o-rings handy.
