I noticed several 748/9** bikes with holed huggers before fitting a DP hugger to my 996S. The problem often stems from failing to fix the RHS using the 6mm hole at bottom RH front of hugger, which requires a hole to be drilled into the swinging arm and tapped with an appropriate thread; as its aluminium, I formed a 1/4 whit/unc to take an allen screw. Judgement has to be exercised to select a position which will hold the hugger off the tyre at all conceivable chain adjustment positions. It is also important to retain and "set" the angle of the steel stiffener plate at the LH rear fixing point, just in front of the rear sprocket, but I had to make a wider one to accomodate the width of the carbon version. Since fitting it, I have had no tyre contact running pirelli dragon evo corsas and diablo corsas 180/55 and 190/50 at speeds up to 160 mph.
