TP, The 998r are numbered up to 700? on the yoke placque. I seem to recall that official dealers got 3 each to sell? A good few more came in as parallels. DUK may be able to tell you a bit about the origin from the VIN. Personally I wouldn't be bothered regards the official/parallel thing. The most important bits of provenance are Is it nicked! Any Finance owing on it has it been in a smash service history, any r model should have cam belts every 12 months or 6K miles whichever is the sooner. The 998r came with termis and the appropriate CPU, in addition to the std can/ECU setup, a cover, a pretty basic stand and some sort of little alloy trinket in a box!!
