Not going as far as that... the French TGV (high speed train) drives on the left.... whereas French cars drive on the right...

This has to do with all the trains in France being on the left actually (train don't work so well going head on especially with High speed ones...).

... and all the trains being on the left has to do with the British building the rail network in the middle of the glorious industrial revolution!!
