My front cylinder used to also have a base leak until I discovered one of the studs had slackened off......I could only do it up by hand but, it has not leaked since - how the hell are you supposed to get a torque wrench in there......
Ahhhh - DOH!...right - remove the motor for completely unrestricted access.
