Except of course it was down to me to also call Amber Credit and tell them that I hadn't renewed with Bennetts, didn't want their credit (and wouldn't have anyway, even if I'd kept with Bennetts). They told me to sign the cancellation of the credit agreement and send it to them...which I duly did about ten minutes later.

Tough luck Jools. Still, hopefully your experience will forewarn others and eventually Bennetts will ge the message.
Re: you ringing Amber Credit. Sorry, but was your agreement with Bennetts or Amber? If you went through Bennetts then your contract (verbal or written) is still with Bennetts, not Amber. Give 'em hell. Better still, ask them for the telephone number/contact address for the local insurance ombudsman, which I believe they are obliged to give you.
