Under the seat.
The Daily Mail are giving away a small road Atlas today. Small enough to go under your seat for use in an emergency. I've put mine inside a small poly bag.
Poundland do a small fold up rucksack which I also stow under my seat. Not very strong but ideal in an emergency when you are out and you buy something light and have no way of carrying it home.
