Festive bollox though Desmondo...

I'm with Glyn on this one. My kids have left home now, but when they were small we used to wait until Christmas Eve and then put up the Christmas tree and let them decorate it. That was a magical time, and they remember it fondly. Last year on the other hand I was in the shops in late November and overheard a Mum talking to her kids..."Only a month to go till Christmas now, are you getting excited?" Yeah right luv..like kids can sustain their excitement for a month, even if you are stupid enough to keep winding them up to a frenzy.

Another thing. Why do I go into the Supermarket any time in the week before Christmas and see families running round with a fleet of shopping trollies stuffed to overflowing? Fer chrissakes why do people do that? Most shops are only closed for two days, and some of 'em are even open on Boxing Day now...it's not a siege! Except it might as well be 'cos the checkout queue is 5 miles long and stuffed with old dears saying things like "Are you ready for Christmas then" and with a big sigh one of the others will say "Oh just about, but I've still got to get my crackers".

Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh. It's just an endurance test. People don't really enjoy the festivities, it's just a chance to outdo each other on the amount of adversity they had to put up with....
