Well we live in Tunbridge Wells.....

... which is a great place to live. However, property prices tend to be directly proportional to how easy it is to get to London as this is still on the boundary of commuting distance - and also how good the schools are. So if you are thinking of retiring you might want to go a bit further south or east.

Too far to the east tends to be flatter countryside, Kent/Sussex borders are lovely (I'm biased of course) and there's some really pretty villages in the middle. North/north-west Kent is quite industrial (that's where I come from!).

I'll happily post you the property pages from our local paper which will cover this area but not a whole lot further east. U2U me if you want the paper or to chat about it. Michael is an architect so he probably has a better grasp of the types of houses prevalent in the area.
