Thanks Fordie - you\'re a star!

It's college day, it's raining, so I'm sitting in my garage on my bike, with heavy tank bag containing law books, at 8.30 warming up the bike to protect my rockers (whatever they are). After 1 minute I thought, 1 more minute to paddle backwards out of the garage and that's the 2 min. warm up for the rockers. Paddling backwards felt like hard work though so, for some reason, unbeknown to me or anyone who may have been watching (thank God, no-one was) I tried to get off the bike halfway out of the garage - with the engine running. Result, bike started to go sideways. I couldn't get enough strength up to pull it upright but I was managing to hold it. So I thought, if I throw the tank bag, helmet and gloves on the floor and exert all my (inconsiderable) strenth into this, I can get it upright again. Of course, that didn't happen. I tried edging forward a bit and suddenly my leg was trapped between the bike and the metal frame of the garage. Options, allow bike to fall by whipping leg out of the way. Or - no that was only option. Whipped leg now rather bruised but not broken, bike rather bruised too. Actually, three really horrible gouges on the tank.

So, here I am, home alone, seeking assistance. Telephoned the obvious people I could think of and then tried Ali and Magpie, both of whom would have rushed to my aid had they not been working in London at the time. Mike the Mechanic also offered to come over later in the day to pick it up if necessary. But the person who did drop everything to come over and pick it up? The wonderful Fordie, with Ashley, his workmate. How fabulous was that?

And the very fact that I now know people who will do that type of stuff is just brilliant. I am so grateful. I love this club!
