That's because it's not in the Desmo Due rule book.
It's a suggestion from the ACU cheif technical officer and all technical officers have the right to fail a bike that they deem to be unsafe in any way.

Now if I right it into the rules then how do we deal with someone found to be missing a bit of lockwire or a secure tank fitting at Perc Ferme, a breach of the DD rules should result in disqualifiacation from the results. Although time penalties were considered for every minor infringement found at Perc Ferme

Where as if it's left under the ACU guidelines then it should be dealt with before a bike takes to the track and prior to racing taking place, if something slips through then so be it and will hopefully be picked up next time.

The ACU handbook has always refered to lockwiring in general but never been bike specific and has been a bit open to different interpretations by both riders and technical inspectors.

I think I'm up to double figures for lockwiring points on some DD bikes
