Help - I need a job

Ok guys i need help. I am unemployed so here is my CV -

Personal Profile

Age - 36yrs

Married for 5 years with one daughter, aged 3 years. I enjoy spending time with my family and hobbies include motorcycling, listening to music, home cinema, gardening, photography, cooking and mountain biking.

I enjoy working within a team environment. It allows me the opportunity to utilise my leadership skills in managing and supporting a team. As a practical person I welcome the opportunity to become hands on with day to day challenges and gain satisfaction from seeing them resolved.

My experience to date has meant that I have developed a range of skills to work across a variety of disciplines and levels managing my own diary whilst being able to lead and develop as part of a team.

Employment History

Jan 05 to Nov 05 - After Sales Manager, Armitage Venesta Washroom Systems, Stoke on Trent

As After Sales Manager I managed the customer service team and a team of after sales fitters. My negotiation skills were utilised in managing contract related claims on a daily basis with values up to £50k. Project values ranged up to £0.5M. Effective communication was essential in ensuring the department ran smoothly with regular meeting with both the team and other departments.

Sept 03 to Dec 04 - Installations Manager – Armitage Venesta Washroom Systems, Stoke on Trent

In this role I developed a nationwide network of twenty preferred installers for Armitage Venesta’s products. Each company was assessed on quality of work and cost of installation. I was responsible for ongoing training either in house or on site for all customers including preferred installers. On average 4 days of each week were spent out of the office. At this time I introduced a team of two after sales fitters who would carry out remedial/warranty works. My product knowledge and experience of working on site ensured costs were minimised.

Nov 00 to Sept 03 - New Product Development – Armitage Venesta Washroom Systems, Stoke on Trent

Working in New Product Development I ran a number of projects successfully developing several new product ranges including vanity units, children’s wc cubicles and cubicles for the leisure market. I designed products and components using a combination of 2d and 3d CAD systems including AutoCAD and Solid Edge. Successfully sourcing suppliers was also part of the role and involved travel to Europe and Asia. With any new products training must be given to both internal and external customers and this was carried out with each product launch.

August 97 to Oct 00 - Specification Advisor - Armitage Venesta Washroom Systems, Stoke on Trent

As Specification Advisor I managed the Midlands area dealing with Architects, Contractors and End-Users in securing specifications and sales of Armitage Venesta’s products. I also conducted CPD seminars to Architects and other professionals. In this role I set up a key account with Jaguar Cars to use Armitage Venesta in all of their new build and refurbishment schemes around the UK.

April 89 to July 97 - CAD Technician - Armitage Venesta Washroom Systems, Stoke on Trent

Working in the CAD department I produced layout drawings to inline with customers requirements to enable manufacture of both cubicles and the IPS system. I attended site meetings as and when required and also conducted site surveys to take dimensions.

Education and Qualifications

2000 - 2005 I have attend courses including Project Management, Self Management & Personal Effectiveness with REED Training in London. In house training has included Team Building and Management Skills.

1996 – Open University. Design Principles and Practice (This forms part of a second year degree module)

1989 – Cauldon College, Stoke on Trent. ONC Building Services

Sept 1981 to July 1985 - Denbigh Secondary School, Milton Keynes. 4 O-levels

Skills Summary

I have 16yrs experience and understanding of the UK Washroom Market from design, sales & marketing, manufacturing and onsite installation work.

I have utilised 2 & 3d CAD packages including AutoCAD and Solid Edge.

I am an effective communicator having developed and presented training seminars both in house and on site. These have been to wide ranging audience from Site Operatives to Company Directors.

My skills at negotiating have developed through management of a claims database.

Nicks, if you're up for going back to your CAD days, there seems to be plenty of agency work at the mo paying £20+ph

At least that's the case in the south.

Might be worth a speculative letter & CV to Wolseley Centres Ltd in Warwick/Leamington.

They're moving a whole load of their operations down there from North Yorkshire (where my wife worked for nearly 20 years up until recently).

Your bathrooms experience might be of value to them.....they own the Plumb, Pipeline, Builder, Controls Center and HRPC businesses amongst others.

Good luck mate

Yeah Jon,

Don't know why I recommended them really. Whole company culture has changed for the worse in the last 5 years.

Not helped that the latest incarnation MD recently publicly slated the quality of staff in the North cos he wants everything (operations wise) down in his neck of the woods. There's uproar in the local rags up here over his comments......

Second thoughts Nicks.....don't go near them!!!!!
