Mood: is it cos i is a bricklayer
i had this sevaral times on my 600ss --when i took the cable off it wasnt broken--each time i refitted the cable the tacho would work again-- then i realised that the little brass nut that is on the internal drive cable was in the wrong end-- it belongs at the bottom not the top end-- the purpose of the brass nut is that it holds the drive cable up into the clocks end not down into the drive end!!! ---- dont know if 888/851 is the same but might be worth a look before you buy a replacement
