bbc radio 5 live had a phone in the other day about the flags, i could not beleive some of the comments from callers of non british origin, they reckon we should not be allowed to fly the st george cause it represents the bnp (i dont think the bnp were around 400 years ago) & we should scrap it completely & have a new flag which represents multicultural britain....i had to turn off the radio cause i felt like ripping it out of the dash and chucking it out the window !

I'm with you there uncle - can you imagine anywhere else in the world putting up with comments like that. Can you imagine someone in scotland saying they should abolish the scottish flag! Our flag lies in the heritage and history of our country, and it's a cross and is representative of the Christian symbol. Whether or not you agree with the religon or background it what we have come from and what has made our country a very very priviledge part of the world to live in. Race has nothing to do with being English (or British).
