1.6.1 Frame Body and Rear sub frame

The main frame must remain as originally produced by Ducati.

The main frame may only be altered by the addition of gussets or tubes. No gussets or tubes may be removed except to allow the fitting of short inlet manifolds.

All motorcycles must display a vehicle identification number on the mainframe body (chassis number).

Rear sub frame may be changed or altered, but the material must remain as standard. This to include the removal of the rear tubes from the Monster frame, behind the original seat.

The paint scheme is not restricted.

Engine mounting brackets or plates must remain as originally produced.

Additional seat brackets may be added and original brackets may be removed. Bolt-on accessories to the rear sub-frame may be removed.

Additional crash protectors may be added; positioning to be authorised by Race Technical Inspection.

I would say that you can alter the sub-frame and remove seat brackets, based on the rule above. That's from the 2007 draft published by the RC. I don't have the 2006 ones handy, but if I recall correctly, this section has not changed.

I read that part of the regs (and it has not changed) as meaning
...
changes to the subframe are free so long as original material is used for any changes
...
eg there are many monsters running with the tea-tray support removed.

But perhaps we need it worded much more clearly.

Does that cover it Mike ?
