Sie748, check your testers manual, a flip plate makes the vrm difficult ( impossible when activated ) to read therefore should constitute a fail, if as I posted, the MOT station is going by the book.

Registration marks are not Con & Use, the current legislation they fall under is The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.
