I had the same thing. Took nothing more than a few squirts of WD40 in strategic places and waiting a few hours for it to do it's stuff

by strategic places i take it you mean the catch to the mount frame?

I think that you will find that you can get at the allen bolts that hold the latches to the frame (round the back) with a bit of care and that way you would be able to get them off the bike for better access.

Mine have always been a pain to get off even from new, l think l lean against mine and lift at the same time with a little jiggle

Mine arent easy to get on/off or pen but always thought that was a benefit as you wouldnt want them falling off or open whilst you were riding along.

Maybe I should get mine down from the garage loft and treat them to a spot of WD40 before the IOM TT in June.

all sorted, removing catches from frame worked a treat, had to break locating "safety tabs" but screwed back on with thread lock so they'll not be going anywhere on there own.

Think if washed and made sure removed all grit from arond sliding handle would not have had the problem in the first case.
