Insurance Question
As many of you know I have written off the 999.

Now this year I had 5 years protected no claims discount.

What does this mean exactly? The "protected" bit I mean.

I'm guessing after your claim you'll still have 5 years NCB, they'll be some small print, but I am guessing it will be along the lines of 2-3 claims in x-period.

How you doing anyway? On the mend I hope

Firstly, bad luck on destroying the 999.

Ref insurance... You should still have your full 5 years ncb, but the base premium will be calculated in consideration of the claims(s) made, then your discount will be applied.

So for example, without any claims your base premium might be £500. Minus, say, 50% ncb = £250 bottom line.
With consideration of your claim, the base premium rises to £1000. Minus 50% ncb = £500 to pay.

Clear as a sump of old engine oil!

I had 60% protected NCD on my metal box. Had a slight shunt and when it came time for the policy to be renewed the premium had gone thru` the roof!

I contacted the insurers to question as to why my premium had gone thru` the roof when I had a 60% protected NCD and was told that it was still protected but it was there policy to increase the premium so as to recover the costs of repars to my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked what the point of a protected NCD was for and was told no use at all.

A friend of mine wrote of his ZX9, ncd stayed as is was , however his premium rocketeed . he made a few calls to other brokers and ended up with cheaper premium than before the smack (even declared the full facts to new brokers).

I hate the game of insurance, AAAAAaaaaaaahhhhh
Why can't there be a uniform pricing / claims structure.

you can never win with insurance
they have got it all worked out
if you have two motors or more
you loose out even more
cause all the policys get bumped up after a claim
so when you renew your car insureance you will have too tell them about any claims on other policys then they'll bump up that premium an all

Just had the same expeirence myself. Claimed from my broker for an accident earlier this year after being advised by them it made sense given the damage to the bike etc etc. Said my premium wouldnt increase much with the loss of NCB as I wouldnt lose all of it.

Just had my renewal through and it had gone through the roof! Rang them up to find the previous underwriter had declined to cover me at all following the claim and they had to go elsewhere!

So made a few enquiries and got a policy cheaper than I paid last year with Ducati Insurance! AND unbelievably Ive just got the policy through and guess what - yup its the same insurance company my previous broker had quoted me for but at £140 more, work that out I cant!

Sounds like a nightmare. This really should be better regulated. It's as if they can do what ever they want or think they can get away with.

I'm on the mend I guess thanks for asking. Well I suppose I am. Don't get to see the consultant for another 5 weeks to check the bones etc. The physio doesn't start until after that assuming everyrthing is ok. Been told I won't be able to put full weight thru@ leg for three months! So no driving.

Going to be a long journey.

Anyway I'm keeping positive as I know how lucky I've been.

The guys following me still have flashbacks so they're still suffering too.
