Nortons System Works
Hello

My copy of Nortons System Works 2005 has expired

does anybody know what I need to do now, do I need to purchase an active?

Ideally I would like 2006 version on CD and if I buy this version is it just a case of installing over my existing copy?

any info would be great, thanks in advance

regards

Hi Topi,

Here's a link to the Symantec (the producers of Norton products) site and their Systemworks End User License Agreement which in the first paragraph states you have it ofr a year and after that time you haveto renew via their site.

I would have hoped upgrading to the 2006 edition would be an easy procedure once you have paid your dues to Symantec. Possibly just an activation code or a CD that loads up the new 'patch' for the latest version.

Hope this helps.

Better still. Avoid it. It's resource hungry stuff and most of what it does can be done for free with good reputable software.

I know lots of folks who use freebie anti-virus, etc programmes. At least once a year they each complain to me saying they had a worm/virus/trojan wipe them out.

I'll stick with my bought and paid for security

That said, I wonder if the original "Dr Solomon" chap still has no anti-virus software on his computer. He said he hadn't, in a computer mag interview a couple of years back. He said he just followed basic security rules.

Norton is very good at what it does, but it does takeover somewhat. I used to use Norton, but for at least the last six months I have been using Antivir http://www.free-av.com/ and Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/ and I have not had any problems at all, and recommend them as a free alternative.

Hello

Thanks for the advice, I have used free virus software in the past,

Its just the computer came with Nortons and to be honest , runs a treat
in the background, updating if and when needed,
so thinking just to activate again. But . . .

Thanks for the links, will have a look tomorrow. .

regards
